Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban Launches WATSAN Project for Community Well-being

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban (RCCEU) under the leadership of Club President Bing Dacudao and District Governor Gilda “Gigi” Go has embarked on a significant endeavor to address the fundamental human right to clean water and sanitation. The WATSAN project, supported by the District Grant of RID 3870, aims to provide improved sanitation facilities for the community. The project involves the construction of sanitary public restrooms in front of the Gusa Barangay Hall, with separate cubicles for males and females. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 15, attended by the Gusa Punong Barangay, Marlo Tabac. The anticipated completion and turnover of this essential infrastructure are scheduled for February 27, 2024. Furthermore, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban is committed to utilizing the excess funds from the WATSAN project to renovate the existing children’s comfort room in the Gusa Day Care Center. This initiative is expected to benefit sixty (60) learners and underscores the club’s ongoing dedication to community welfare. The Gusa Day Care Center, which was established 30 years ago under the leadership of then RCCEU President Sarah Borja, continues to play a vital role in the local community. The Rotary Club extends its appreciation to Architect Rtn Jonel Juaneza Tabilla and her team for their unwavering effort in making these projects a reality. The commendable efforts of every member of the WATSAN team and the RCCEU members have been instrumental in driving the success of these initiatives. Their relentless support and commitment to enhancing the well-being of the community have not gone unnoticed. In closing, the project chair, Rotarian Grace Go, is congratulated and thanked for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the realization of the WATSAN project. The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban looks forward to the positive impact of these initiatives on the community and remains steadfast in its mission to serve humanity. Empowered Women Empower Women: An All-Women Rotary Club’s Advocacy Against Violence

As an all-women Rotary club, we embrace our femininity – sometimes fragile, but always capable and empowered. We are loved by our families in different roles – as grandmothers, mothers, titas, wives, daughters, and sisters. But despite the love and support we receive, not all women are as fortunate as we are. This March, as we celebrated Women’s Month, we aimed to spread a little joy to fifty women who are victims of violence. Through the efforts of Rotary CDO East Urban, in partnership with RC CDO Spouses, Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro, I Will Serve Foundation, and Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, we provided 50 women with livelihood kits for manicure and pedicure, hygiene kits, 5-kilo sack rice, and boxed lunch. It is our hope and prayer that these livelihood kits will be the start of a new journey for these women and their children – one that is safe, peaceful, and full of joy. We believe that empowering these women through education and livelihood opportunities can help them break free from the cycle of violence and provide for their families in a dignified way. We understand the sensitivity of the matter and want to assure everyone that no pictures were taken of the women. Many of them have pending cases on VAWC, or Violence Against Women and Children. Still, we are immensely grateful for the trust given to us to make even a small difference in the lives of these women. This project was made possible under the Chairmanship of Marie Lynn-Benjamin Booc, Director for Community Service PP Bebotte Chu, and Director for Vocational Service PAG Rosalinda Caragos. We are proud to be part of this initiative and stand firm in our commitment to the well-being and empowerment of women. As members of Rotary District 3870, we uphold the motto “Service Above Self,” and we will continue to advocate for the rights and dignity of every woman. Join us in our cause, and together, let us empower women to empower others. #rotarydistrict3870 #RotaryServiceAboveSelf Check out more photos for this project from our...

First Aid Training at Gingoog City

Last December and early January this year, Gingoog City was hit by severe flooding caused by the convergence of cold and warm winds known as shear line. In response to this disaster, the Rotary CDO East Urban Joint Project, a recipient of the RID 3870 District Grant, conducted the third and final Skills Training on First Aid and Disaster Preparedness and Response in Barangay Daan Lungsod of Gingoog City. Partnering with the Philippine Red Cross, Gingoog Chapter, under the leadership of PP Myrna Motoomull, forty-four volunteers, including barangay and sitio officials and teachers, were trained in basic first aid skills such as wound care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to respond to emergency situations. The training focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to mitigate the effects of disasters and prepare for emergency response situations. The project was made possible under the Chairmanship of PAG Inday Justina Uy and Director for Environment PAG Myra Villapaz Balandra. Thanks to their leadership and the efforts of all involved, the community of Gingoog City is now better prepared to respond to future disasters and protect themselves and their loved ones. Through this joint effort between the Rotary CDO East Urban Project and the Philippine National Red Cross, the people of Gingoog City have gained valuable skills and knowledge that will enable them to face any disaster that may come their way in the future. #rotarytrf #rotarydistrictgrant #rotarydistrict3870 Check out more photos of this project at our...

Improving Sanitation and Saving Lives: Rotary Club Builds Toilets in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban is proud to join Rotary International in celebrating Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Month this March. Despite our modern world’s advances, over 750 million people still lack access to safe drinking water while more than 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. Rotary International believes that everyone should have access to clean water and proper sanitation, and the organization has committed to developing sustainable water and sanitation systems for communities worldwide. Rotary’s projects aim to provide communities with the tools they need to develop and maintain these critical systems. In partnership with RC CDO Premier, RC Kalayaan, RC Phoenix, Del Monte Philippines, Inc., and Del Monte Foundation, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban is proud to donate toilet sets to 95 families of Sitio Intavas, Brg La Fortuna, and 105 families of Brg Kibenton, both of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon. This project aligns with Rotary’s Areas of Focus, which include Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, as well as Disease Prevention and Treatment. PP Bebotte Chu, Director for Community Service, expresses the Club’s gratitude to all of its partners who made this project a success. Through the donation of sanitary supplies, we can help improve the health and well-being of families in Bukidnon.
