Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban Launches WATSAN Project for Community Well-being

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban (RCCEU) under the leadership of Club President Bing Dacudao and District Governor Gilda “Gigi” Go has embarked on a significant endeavor to address the fundamental human right to clean water and sanitation. The WATSAN project, supported by the District Grant of RID 3870, aims to provide improved sanitation facilities for the community. The project involves the construction of sanitary public restrooms in front of the Gusa Barangay Hall, with separate cubicles for males and females. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 15, attended by the Gusa Punong Barangay, Marlo Tabac. The anticipated completion and turnover of this essential infrastructure are scheduled for February 27, 2024. Furthermore, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban is committed to utilizing the excess funds from the WATSAN project to renovate the existing children’s comfort room in the Gusa Day Care Center. This initiative is expected to benefit sixty (60) learners and underscores the club’s ongoing dedication to community welfare. The Gusa Day Care Center, which was established 30 years ago under the leadership of then RCCEU President Sarah Borja, continues to play a vital role in the local community. The Rotary Club extends its appreciation to Architect Rtn Jonel Juaneza Tabilla and her team for their unwavering effort in making these projects a reality. The commendable efforts of every member of the WATSAN team and the RCCEU members have been instrumental in driving the success of these initiatives. Their relentless support and commitment to enhancing the well-being of the community have not gone unnoticed. In closing, the project chair, Rotarian Grace Go, is congratulated and thanked for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the realization of the WATSAN project. The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban looks forward to the positive impact of these initiatives on the community and remains steadfast in its mission to serve humanity. Improving Sanitation and Saving Lives: Rotary Club Builds Toilets in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban is proud to join Rotary International in celebrating Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Month this March. Despite our modern world’s advances, over 750 million people still lack access to safe drinking water while more than 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. Rotary International believes that everyone should have access to clean water and proper sanitation, and the organization has committed to developing sustainable water and sanitation systems for communities worldwide. Rotary’s projects aim to provide communities with the tools they need to develop and maintain these critical systems. In partnership with RC CDO Premier, RC Kalayaan, RC Phoenix, Del Monte Philippines, Inc., and Del Monte Foundation, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban is proud to donate toilet sets to 95 families of Sitio Intavas, Brg La Fortuna, and 105 families of Brg Kibenton, both of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon. This project aligns with Rotary’s Areas of Focus, which include Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, as well as Disease Prevention and Treatment. PP Bebotte Chu, Director for Community Service, expresses the Club’s gratitude to all of its partners who made this project a success. Through the donation of sanitary supplies, we can help improve the health and well-being of families in Bukidnon. The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban takes pride in supporting communities in need and remains committed to furthering Rotary’s mission of service above self. GUGMA UG GASA a Community Service Project

GUGMA UG GASA a Community Service Project From your Secretary’s Pen By: Sec. Melanie Rosalind C. Talimio Congratulations Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro EAST URBAN for the well attended community project that kicked off the start of RY 2019-20! The project, GUGMA UG GASA, was chaired by Rtn.Grace Go under the Community Service Program of Dir. Jo Ana Llagas with members Rtn. Bebbot Chiu, PAG Bebotte Chu, and incoming Rtn. Nenette Rebolos. This was in response to the clarion call of DG BANS IBRAHIM to celebrate children’s day in July. What better way to show that RCEU took it to heart than to celebrate it on the first day of the new rotary year? So it was that last Monday, July 1, 2019, 19 ladies led by Pres. Rosalinda Caragos trooped to the Patag Child Development Center. We were greeted by Teacher Mary Annabelle Reyes-Go and the parents, mostly mothers, who were ready with their camera-phones and welcoming smiles. A little bit of history: the child development center used to be a reading center for senior citizens. During RY 2004-05 with PP Inday Uy at the helm of leadership and with the late Joe Nebrao as the District Governor, RCEU constructed the building that now houses the day care center, the first school for around 40 to 50 children aged 4-5 years old. Visiting the school again brought back memories to Rotarians who witnessed the completion of the project as either officers or new members during that time. What a fun day it was for the little ones to receive gifts, hygiene kits, and yummy food on that special day. Donated for the center’s use were a whiteboard, bookshelf, table, television, sound system and pencils which were particularly requested by Teacher Annabelle. Special thanks to Chair Grace, Dir. Joan, and Pres. Linda for the donations. Chair Grace also prepared mouth-watering carrot cupcakes and water to all the Rotarians who attended the project. The children also received beautiful orange tumblers courtesy of PDG Fe Rosales Juarez. Rtn Nenette taught the kids how to wash their hands properly and they did so with gusto. Pres. Linda gave a sentimental and inspirational talk being once a nursery school teacher and owner. PDG Bing also gave a motivational talk and congratulated the committee and thanking everyone who came. Ending the program with a bang, Chair Grace turned over the money to T. Annabelle for the feeding program. Seeing the happy faces of the little ones made it a wonderful and productive Monday morning. Thank you to all the Rotarians who came and showed their support: Pres. Linda Caragos, PDG Bing Fe Rosales Juarez, Dir. Jo Ann Llagas, Chair Grace Go, PAG Bebotte Chu, Rtn. Bebbot Chiu, Rtn. Nenette Rebolos, VP Imee van der Born, PAG Ella Yu, Treas./PP Lina Estrella Faburada (Boleen), Rtn. Vicky Lim, PP Shirley Thomas Escano, PE Daisy Tiu, Rtn. Georgie Tan, Rtn. Lina Kwong, Asst. Sec.
