Walk for Peace — The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban (RCEU) of District 3870 Zone 1 literally Walk for Peace to signify the beginning of RY 2015-2016 with a new theme: “ Be a gift to the World.” The early morning Walk around the city’s main thoroughfare was participated by all Clubs in Zone 1. The zumba dance exercise was held  in order to energize the participants before the foot parade began. Venue was the assembly area in Gaston Park.

The Drum and Bugle Corp of the Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School led and paved the Walk route with  lively march music to the delight of the Rotarians and onlookers along the way.

RI District 3870 Zone 1 Chair of the Council of Presidents, Conchitina Borja-Lagonera (photo at left) delivers her message at a brief program held to commemorate the Rotary  New Year July 1, 2015.  This was done after the Walk for Peace around the city’s main thoroughfare.  Seated onstage are three  (seated beside each other) from the religious sector who did the ecumenical invocation; RI District Governor Leo Ochia, and Past District Governor Tess Navales. Photo at right shows the various Rotary Club members in Zone 1 with their respective presidents who participated in the kick-off event.

Club History

The club started with ladies who were not just acquaintances but close friends. They decided to give meaning to this closeness, thus the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban was born.
